I have been banging my head against the wall trying to get my microsoft bluetooth mouse working. I have installed the intellipoint software and get to the are where I have to hit the button on the bottom of the mouse and try to get it detected by the receiver and it always returns a message that it cannot find any devices. I have tried it on my laptop and my PC (both pretty new systems), using the dongle and the little receiver stand, replaced batteries several times, did it with the mouse held right up to the dongle, did it with the connect channel button held in the whole time. Nothing. Did I miss something along the way? It seemed like it would be a much easier setup than this...

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

As far a I remember the setup I tried once you have to first install the software, probably reboot your computer, plug the dongle at which time it might ask for the CD again to read the .inf files. The you can proceed to connect the mouse and keyboard.

Anyway, to check that your Bluetooth dongle is active on the desktop side, open your Control Panel and double-click the new Wireless connection icon (which looks very similar to the old infrared connection icon - no creativity here).

The dialog should be like this:

If you see a dialog like this (probably without the devices listed like in mine) you can switch to the hardware tab and check the dongle is working ok. If it's, the mouse may be the problem then. Try using another one?
