I have to wireless routers that have the same SSID and with the same pass key aswell

I would like my laptops to be able to switch to the router with the strongest signal automatically

What am i doing wrong?

Normally, you would do what you have already done and then also make sure that they are not using the same Channel (frequency). EG; if Wireless Access Point (WAP) A is using channel 1 then set WAP B to channel 6 or 11 so that they don't interfere with each other.

I have done all of this but it still wont change over automatically when im standing right next to one it is stil connected to the other one because it has only three or four wifi bars

I'm confused - you're wondering why it won't automaticlly connect to a 2nd AP when the signal is fine from the other one? This is totally logical.

If you want a true seamless network you need to use some form of mesh or WDS network.
