Hi All,

The house we are building will have a Vynco Logix VCC40 commuication board in the garage with Cat5 wiring to all rooms.

Can anyone recommend a modem that will fit into this cabinet? Wifi will be taken care of inside the house.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, the most common unit i use is the TPLink TD-8840, quite compact and good design overal, plus well matched to Telecoms ISAMs

Hey cyril, can you comment on TP-Link's firmware? TP-Links's units seem to be virtually the same as dynalink/netcomm when it comes to hardware (broadcom chipsets).

Hi, the firmware is identical to the DSE model (no longer listed) and seems to do all the main things. One issue I have recently noted is that with the port forwarding you dont seem to be able to map a WAN port to a different LAN port even though the firmware and manual indicates you can cross map ports. Other than that they seem to work very well and seem very reliable.

Hi Cyril,

Thanks for the advice. Had a look on the net for reviews and it looks as if it may be quite complex to configure - perhaps more geared towards someone of your abilities than a newbie like me. In your experience, are these easy to set-up?

They are in my view no harder than any other, by and large out of the box they do all most folk want. Further you have a inexhaustible resource here in GZ.

But honestly whilst the interface is a bit more complex looking than most similar products, there is nothing to be afraid of.
