Hello all, I seem to be in a bit of a hassle. I have ADSL through tpg and they have supplied me with a Dynalink rta1320, I have been given a Belkin wireless router f5d7230-4. I am just curious if I can use these 2 together and if so how do I connect them. I’m probably not the best person getting round with computers so a bit of a detailed explanation may be needed thanks.

Hi and welcome to Geekzone.

Basically you need to determine the IP address of the Dynalink (possibly 192.168.0.1) and check the DHCP server settings. Then access the Belkin. Disable the Belkin's DHCP server and alter it's IP address to 192.168.0.2 or 254 (ensure the IP is not in the DHCP servers address range for assigned IP's) and is in the same range.

Set up the wireless SSID and security key/passphrase using WPA or WPA2-PSK.

Next plug one of the Belkin's ethernet ports into the same port on the Dynalink and you should be good to go.

This question is asked very frequently. Have a look through some previous threads until you find a similar case, there are a few options if you need more detail than above.

Time to find a new industry!

Have a look at this post on ben.geek.nz it shows how to configure the 1320 in halfbridge mode

http://www.ben.geek.nz/2006/11/adsl-routing-solution-in-detail/

In his post Ben is using a WRT54G so the instructions for the router wont match yours perfectly, but if you reset the Belkin back to default settings, configure the 1320, and then plug it into the WAN port it should hopefully all work.

Hmm..  he said he's on TPG, an Aussie ISP.  Over there you can usually use PPPoE instead of needing to having to use PPPoA like here in NZ.

So he will need to find out what mode he can or needs to connect with.

If PPPoE, this link for a guide for bridging two devices (using PPPoE)
