I've been looking at getting the Logitech MX5000 for a while and am now ready to actually buy one.

One thing I would like to know before I do buy it, will the mouse and keyboard connect to my computer's bluetooth without having to use the dongle. I would like to not have to use the dongle at all and just use the base to charge the mouse when neccersary (would mean only needing to take the mouse with me when i go out).

Btw, I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 with the bluetooth option (of course :) ).

It should work ok if the Dell software supports the HID profile.

I believe it does...

I also recall something to do with the Bluetooh mentioning Toshiba, would this be the type of software like the widcomm stuff?

Is there a way to check?

without the usb doggle, you will NOT be able to use the extended features on the keyboard and on the mouse. The setpoint, the software comes with the MX5000, only works for the use doggle. I bought MX5000 to work with my Toshiba Protege with build in bluetooth. It is not worth it!

You can spend much less for a basic bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo.
