Hi

I'm posting because I'm incredibly confused as to what might have caused this issue.

I booted a live Pclos CD on my laptop which had previously had a perfectly good good network going with modem/router connected to eight port switch, and then on to how ever many machines I have going - usually only one or two, but sometimes three.

The network initially appeared as configured but as soon as I attempted to access the internet it dropped.  I tried various reconfigfuration methods all with the same result - problems with network connectivity.

I had not changed anything in the modem/router, so was mystified.

I continue to be mystified because I popped in  live Pclos Gnome CD, and again got same response regarding network being down.  After coming back to the machine I noticed the network was now up!   Tested it (live Pc Gnome), and rebooted.  Low and behold the network configured automatically on boot (as always done in the past), and it seems to have held.

So - now the laptop is still running the on the network.  Using the Pclos forums I tried various things, which didn't work of course, because it seems as though it was a local problem.

I recently changed ISP from Orcon to Vodafone, and I have to say, that ever since, I've noticed very slow download times, and wonder if that may have caused this problem.

If it was local network issue then its unrelated to vodafone. Check whether the pclos system was running dhcp client properly.

Time to find a new industry!
