Hi, I've decided to try and use my IOGear dongle to my mouse.

Currently, I can detect the mouse through the new dongle, however, it prompts me for the pairing code to the mouse.

I can't find a default code in the manual, nor anywhere on my google searches.

Does anyone have a code, or workaround?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike, the mouse is one device that would not ask for a code. Are you using drivers version 1.4 with your IOGear?

I don't think I am.

Searching through the forum, should I install:

The drivers you have to install must support HID. This is implemented on widcomm 1.4 and up

I don't think IOGear have these yet. If you install drivers from other manufacturers you'll be asked for a key or will have to modify some files to have the drivers working with your hardware.

Instructions are available, and are not hard to follow, but we don't have these in this board because of copyright issues.

Great, almost all set. I have the BT Mouse communitcating through the IOGear Dongle. However, my Bluetooth Places icon is Red, and tells me that the 'Bluetooth device is not found' so I can't get the rest of the BT services.

Any suggestions?

Thanks...

Mike

How did you get the mouse to work? Have you installed the Dell software?

Perhaps it's red now because of some other software incompatibility? Have you rebooted between each install sequence?

No, I went with the DLink Drivers, and did a search on the widcomm 1.4.1 to get some more insight.

I'm goign to to try to plug in a DLink DBT120 this aftenoon, maybe try a reinstall to see if it works.

Actually, just tried to use the search for devices through control/pane/wireless link and paired my T68i. Its just Bluetooth Places that does not recognize.

Thanks,

Mike

Well, I've reinstalled the DLink drivers with the DBT120, and used the assigned ID, and I still don't get any devices to show in the Bluetooth Places. The Tray Icon is still Red, and says that it can't find the Bluetooth Device.

Should I just be happy, and continue to pair through the Control Panel, or do I need functionality in the My Bluetooth Places?

Other users reported that using the DLINK software with the DLINK adapter sometimes caused problems. You might want to contact DLINK and ask about this.

Since you've installed another set of drivers something could be left in registry, causing this problem. If you don't mind another reinstall, you could:

- remove the software using the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs
- run REGEDIT and look for widcomm and remove references from the registry
- install the software again

Make sure you have a copy of your registry before doing any changes!

It sounds like its still trying to use the original microsoft bluetooth driver. This is common where you install a second bluetooth stack after having already installed the ms bluetooth desktop.

Follow these instructions and it should solve the problem

1) go into device manager and select the microsoft bluetooth transceiver
2) right click and select the update driver option
3) select 'install from a specific location'
4) select 'do not search i will choose the driver to install'
5) select the 'microsoft bluetooth device'

With any luck it should now be working.
