Anybody got the voodoo necessary to get this device to deliver on its promise?

Fluked what might be the answer to this, hugely irritating and long-running, repeater issue.
Although the manual doesn't mention it at all, apparently the D-Link DAP-1150 needs to be 'paired' with your primary wireless router. I only figured this out by accidently finding a setting in my Belkin router's configuration app that allows you to specify another wireless router (or more than one, it seems) as a wireless bridge. The 'pairing' process (my phrase, not theirs) is simply the entry of the repeating router's MAC address into the wireless bridge section of the configuration app and hitting apply.
Then, as long as your repeater is switched to 'Repeat" mode, it's on your network and on the same channel, it works. Instead of working for a few seconds to a couple of minutes, it now seems to be up 100% of the time and where the signal across the house and downstairs was virtually zero, it now rates "Excellent" on two of the family's Windows notebooks.
So if that helps somebody else, then typing this will have been worth it. I'll update in a week or so to make sure that it wasn't just some cosmic confluence in action, or the digital gremlins messing with my head.
