I have recently purchased an InstantPAN USB Dongle which comes with BTW software from WidComm. I need to be able to synchronise my phone with Outlook (Outlook 2000 running on Windows 2000). Although I can pair the two devices and I am able to send pictures/sounds from my phone to my PC, I can't perform any sync and also keep getting commnication problems when talking to my phone from the PC. The keep getting the error message "Error Establishing Connection". When trying a single contact transfer from Outlook I get the error "Your request could not be honoured". I have tried looking at all the various settings and they all appear to be okay. Can anyone please help?
Thanks in advnace.

Have you had a look in our Bluetooth Guides? The Sony Ericsson software is sometime tricky.

You have to assign the correct COM port and reserve it.

I haven't because I wasn't trying to use the Sony Communication Suite as I thought it didn't work with BT. I was trying to use the BT native software as supplied with the Dongle by WidComm. If you think that it would be better to use the comminication siute then I could give that a go but I was trying to aviod that as I did try and inmstall it originally but didn't have much luck - could be due to the COM port problem that you mentioned.

Ah, ok... Now the bad news then. You might want to check the T610 firmware version and see if there's a newer one available. I had one here for review and that was horrible! I had to pair the T610 every time I wanted to use a Bluetooth function, if it was off since the last use.

Also, make sure that you don't have a personal firewall blocking communications by default. The Bluetooth software uses some local ports to communicate, and if these are blocked, nothing goes through. You should be able to allow all localhost to localhost (127.0.0.1) communications.

Thanks for your advice. I'll pusue the firmware version issues and also maybe look into perhaps using the Sony Comms Suite. I'll let you know how I get on ...
Thanks again.
