Hi

I just bought a Dynalink RTA1025WV6 to replace the old Belkin I had. The Belkin had no trouble getting wireless signal through the whole house, it was just regularly dropping the internet connection so I bought the Dynalink. The wireless signal on this thing is shocking, I am <2m away and don't even have full strength on my Macbook pro. It is no different on the iPad. It will barely penetrate a single wall, and fluctuates regularly even with only 2-3m between computer and router.

I have played a little with the wireless settings, changing channels, etc but it has made no difference. There are no close networks that can cause interference and the cordless phone is 15m away. I retried the old Belkin and it still gave a much better signal than the new Dynalink.

Is there something that I am missing here? Or is this just a dodgy router?

I have also found the RTA1025 wireless to be fairly poor compared to my Belkin N1 and Netgear 834G. Although mine definitely doesn't perform as badly as your one seems to be.

Possibly your one could be dodgy on the wireless side of things.

Perhaps give the Dynalink helpdesk a call on 09 909 6704 and see if they can come up with a resolution that doesn't compromise security.

Certainly sounds like something is faulty. I've never had a problem with the wireless on my RTA1025W, it gives me good coverage throughout the entire house. As suggested above, give them a call.

Give this a run on a pc with a wireless adapter

Should let you see what's going on signal wise and how many other AP's nearby are on the same channel etc.

I had the same router. Wireless was very bad at my house.
I upgraded and gave it to my parents, but the wireless is great at their place...
