Perhaps a silly question, but 2gb went in one day and I can't think where it all went.

If I download a wmv file (say 600mb) from a site, then I know that the download is deducted from my monthly allowance (xtra).

If then then stream that file (or indeed any file from one PC to another PC) to a PlayonHD Mini, does that also get recorded by my ISP?

No, your PC to PC is not on a broadband network so does not add to usage

Did you BitTorrent that 600Mb file?

If so, did you shut down the BitTorrent client after you had downloaded it? BitTorrent clients upload as well as download (seeding), so if you left it running, then everyone else on the internet who was looking for that same file will have downloaded a part of it, and each of those parts is counted in your broadband allowance. So , you may have only downloaded 600Mb (which on a normal speed connection probably only takes about 30 minutes or less) but if you left the torrent seeding, then it is conceivable and likely that you uploaded 1.4 Gb during the rest of the day.

If you didn't torrent it (and simply downloaded it from a website), then ignore the above.

No, I downloaded the file direct from the BBC iPlayer site.

2gb is not the end of the world, I just need to keep within my limit (10gb) until Jan 11 OR (so Telecom say) I will be on dialup speeds.
