Before Xmas I bought a Dynalink RTA1025WV6. similar to the one I have at home. It was for my mother -in-law in Tauranga who is on Telecom with an old 2Wire router that the Wifi has died on. I set it up at work on one of our Telecom ADSL lines and setup the wifi and all worked well. Took it down at Xmas time plugged it in but the ADSL would not sync. Change the line cord and filter but nothing. The DSL LED just flashed at me. Plugged the old 2Wire back in again and all was fine so I left it there. Her line is good as I can get 10Meg/sec plus on NZ speedtest.

Bought it home and plugged it in to my Orcon line and it booted up fine with ADSL sync. Setup my user name and password and all went well.

Any ideas??

Hi, dont know if its related, but over xmas stayed with my sister in Te Puke, they had been having drop out issues, so as you do had a play, they had the same modem, even after I had sorted the line (they are 1.5km 25dB) from the DSLAM and its would take 4-5 try's to get sync, and 50% of the time it would come up as T.143 rather than G.DMT (still only on ADSL1 there), if I took t.143 off the allowed list it would never lock. I tried a hack about modem I had in the van (a voda Huewai with trendset chipset) and a TPLink 88840 both came up instantly and always G.DMT.

Not impressed with this Orcon supplied modem, and to add to that it ran so hot that in the afternoon when the sun was in the office it would stop all together till cooled.

Actually this wasn't an Orcon supplied one. I bought it from Aquire here in Auckland. I'll keep it as a spare..
