Hi guys,
I'm looking for a piece of software like http://www.antamedia.com/bandwidth-manager/ that doesn't cost alot of $$ (That one looks ideal just don't have the spare money at the moment)

Basically I'm going to install a wifi router off the second NIC of a XP Pro computer, and want to use like a bandwidth per day cap for my brother. I know of Squid, but its a dedicated PC option, and I'm looking for a software that will install under Windows

Any one know of anything, or will I have to save to get that one?

Why not go down the router route?

Yep Gargoyle firmware on a Linksys WRT54GL is a great solution for "quota" problems.

You can get WRT54L's for <$100 these days, or cheaper off trademe probably.

Run from antamedia, run run run
I really hate it. And most motel owners that use it, regret it.

Firstspot hotspot is the better alternative.

But that is probably also overkill for what you want.

You may want to research ipcop or pfsense - they are free and i think one of those has bandwidth accounting built in or avaliable via plugin.

I have not tried the gargoyle firmware myself but there is a blog post on the geekzone frontpage at the moment that i think suggests it.
