Hi! All,

I am unable to make my Nokia 3650 to get connected with Nokia 3650 PC Connectivity Software, I am successfully paired my device with PocketPC 3870 and Laptop (using AmbiCom Bluetooth Dongle Version 1.25 Build 1025 (but it can't find any services though when try to find the services, as I did with PocketPC anywayz)

Now the error is, as I try to set the Com 4 as its setup as Bluetooh Serial Port i selected in mRouter and then it thorws the following error:
(it happened only with COM Port 4)

"ITS NOT POSSIBLE TO ENABLE INFRARED PORT, AS IT MAY BE IN USE BY ANOTHER APPLICATION"

Every other application is closed, i mean i m not running Bluetooth Neighborhood and also try to run the bluetooth neighborhood but still getting the same error.

Any idea? I really appreciate your help folks!!! seriously wanna jump in J2ME Development (basically from .NET Compact Framework Dev. Background) but this Nokai stuff is driving me lil crazy!!!

Hello Mudassir... I understand you have selected the COM port that is defined in your Local Services configuration. Can you check that this is corret, please?

Then you say something about Pocket PC. Do you have ActiveSync running on this computer? Can you right-click the AS icon in the system tray and open Connection Settings, to verify that Serial Connection is not checked?

Also, you might want to visit Ambicon's web site and see if they have a new driver version - at least 1.3, since 1.2 has some bugs.

Cheers!

I can see that Ambicom has the new driver 1.4 here. It's only for BTC2000C-USB with S/N 3343000001 or later though.

Yes its is there, but the main question is why I am unable to get my Nokia 3650 get connected via Nokia PC Connectivity Software???

I dont have the AmbiCom Latest Dongle the one that is BT2000 - USB only this one.

And I dunno why the Active Synch is concern in this Nokia 3650 Connection Scneario with Nokia PC Connectivity Software ? I am confused or I think I am missing something?

Any ideas folks? Coz its really frustrating.

Regards,

Mudassir

I'm asking about ActiveSync because it by default listen a COM port. It could be that it is using the same COM port that the Nokia PC Suite needs to use. Since you said something about Pocket PC, I wanted to clear this point.

Have you checked the things I posted before? What are the answers?

I think you have this almost there.

You say the dropbox on ActiveSync is pointing to COM3, and that your Bluetooth Serial port is COM4 on Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > Ports (node).

Well you should have TWO Bluetooth Serial ports there, one inbound one outbound.

Please right-click the Bluetooth icon in the System Tray and select Advanced Configuration. Now change to the Local Service tab. You should see a list like this:

.

What is the number on your COM port there, please?

Hey dude,

I did that thing Right Click on my Bluetooth Icon, its not showing any Context Menu on Right-Click.

I am using AmbiCom Bluetooth Dongle, this is because its old? or something?

Hmmm. You can also double-click My Bluetooth Places, then right-click My Device and select Properties. Then follow to the Local Services and find what's the COM port there. Let me know the result.

It looks like this is an old version. Regardless of this you should be able to find the configuration screens and check what is the COM port for Incoming connections. Do you have any right-click context menu on My Bluetooth Places?

Since this seems to be an older version we'll do it with the little info we have.

  • Right-click ActiveSync, select Connections Settings and uncheck the accept connections on serial port. Take note of what COM port is selected here.
  • Right-click the mRouter icon and select properties. Check the same port that was checked on ActiveSync before.

Do you know what version is this software? Ambicom's web site lists one released in Oct'03 for older devices.

IF the problem is really in the software there's not much we can.

The list will show "Not Connected" until you connect the phone. It's normal.

You have COM3 and COM4 in the list. Have checked (as I've asked before) which one is the incoming? If you can't verify this, check both COM3 and COM4 boxes in this mRouter configuration.

To connect the phone you have to start from your computer. Double-click the icon corresponding to the mobile phone. It should show a list of services available on the phone, one of them is Serial Port. Double-click it to establish connection.

The phone will wake up and close the connection. You'll see a message saying "The phone closed the connection". This is normal.

The phone will then call back and connect to the Bluetooth incoming port. That's why it's so important and I've asked before to check which port to use.

Since you've checked both COM3 and COM4 in mRouter (as I asked a few paragraphs above) you should see some activity. The mRouter icon should change too.

Have a look in this guide for specific messages.

Again, it will only show "Connected" on mRouter when the phone is actively connected, not the port.

    Hey Mauricio

I try to find the "Services" once my device is paired and then it just keep looking for the services and thats all and then it is not showing any services as it is showing for my PocketPC.

And whenever i try to click on COM 3 & COM 4 respectivley it throwin the error that ""ITS NOT POSSIBLE TO ENABLE INFRARED PORT, AS IT MAY BE IN USE BY ANOTHER APPLICATION"" once I clicked on the COM 4 Port, I am not sure why? Coz i already unchecked the checkbox from ActiveSynch.
