I have a windows computer, and I am trying to open 2 ports on my router for my server.
I have already "opened" the ports on my router.

My forwarded ports.

But still, when I check if it is open on http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ it says that the port is closed.
In a desperate attempt i even uninstalled my anti-virus and disabled my firewall , and still it doesn't work.

Any help?

I wonder if the port is open but there's nothing to connect to, so it's reporting it as closed. You could try forwarding the port(s) to your PC.

I'm not big on networking though, one of the networking guys will probably have a better idea.

Well, it is opening the ports to the device called "Alien-PC".

That looks like the router name. Opening a port on a firewall only really helps outbound connections, unless you forward the port to a specific machine that can respond to requests.

Give it a go, it'll only take a minute and you have nothing to lose.

Minecraft port forwarding, just select your router make/model from the list and follow the guide:

If its windows, you also have to open the ports in the firewall running on the computer itself.

So the modem used to block the incoming connection, now forwards it to the computer specified
But the computer has its own firewall that could be blocking it.
Windows firewall is found by going start > control panel > windows firewall
Many applications will install exceptions that you just tick to allow. Others need to be manually added.

If you have norton, paid AVG or almost every other antivirus product installed, the firewall could be built into the antivirus and the windows firewall disabled.

Is the "Public IP" the one you entered into the router? It might mean the local IP of the machine you want to become public, which would be a static IP like 192.168.x.x instead of the external IP.

Time to find a new industry!

Reply 1: My PC's name is Alien-PC. (Just checked)
Reply 2: I made what the guides on the internet say. According to the router, the port is open.
Reply 3: I even shut off my firewall and un-installed my anti-virus (AVG) and it still didnt work.
Reply 4: When I chose the computer I would be opening the ports for I didnt input the LAN IP for my computer, I just chose it from a list of computers from the network.

I got crazy on this, I shut off my firewall, my routers firewall and uninstalled my anti-virus, AND IT STILL DIDNT WORK. Crazy huh.

So I called the AT&T TechSupport, and after a few days, it seemed to work.
