Thanks to this excellent forum I have almost managed to share my PCs broadband connection with my iPaq3970 (albeit with Zonealarm disabled). No problems in making the Network Access connection with the PC and I can ping (using vxUtil) a site e.g. BBC at 212.58.224.123 but if I type bbc.co.uk into vxUtil, I get 'request timed out' and 'page not found' in IE. Knowing precious little about networks, is this something to do with DNS? I put in my ISPs DNS server addresses into TCP/IP in Bluetooth Network Properties but this made no difference. Any help is most appreciated.

It sounds like you have a DNS problem. Are you 100% sure your DNS entry in the Bluetooth adapter is correct? Check by using IPCONFIG /ALL on your computer.

Next thing is firewall related. You have to check this...

Disabled Zonealarm from Startup and could no longer ping 192.168.0.1. After a lot of head scratching, if I restart Zonealarm, dialogue box appears asking if I want to give Generic Host Process access to internet, click yes. Then shutdown Zonealarm, I can ping 192.168.0.1 and other sites again but still not web addresses. So, I guess Zonealarm is doing something even when not started? or is prevent some service or other from starting up?

Thanks for your continued support

Ringo;
It looks like this is your Bluetooth connect?

Ethernet adapter bluetooth network

Connection specific DNS suffix BLANK
Description Bluetooth LAN etc etc
Physical adress 00-10 etc etc
dhcp enabled No
IP address 192.168.0.1
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Default gateway BLANK
DNS servers 212.67 etc
212.67 etc

If this is correct, your Bluetooth Connection on the PC is setup wrong. Their should only be two entries on the Bluetooth adapter. One the address 192.168.0.1 and a netmask address of 255.255.255.0 anything else will break ICS.

On the PocketPC you want server assign addressing, which will set the DNS servers and gateway address to 192.168.0.1 I don't use Zonealarm but the last version I used if ZoneAlarm was set to high security it would break ICS, setting it to medium or low would allow ICS to work.
