We currently have a Linksys WAG160N ADSL2+ Wireless Router.

Telecom recently upgraded our roadside cabinet to ADSL2+, but due to a issue with Linksys routers, they apparently are not compatible with the ADSL2+ equipment installed in the Telecom roadside cabinet.

Telecom have recommended that we purchase their Thomson TG585, but due to its limited functionality and no Wireless N, i'm reluctant.

I have looked at two different options, the TP Link TD-W8960N, and the Netcomm NB6Plus4WN.

Both look like ideal units, and offer wireless N, & ADSL2+.

Im not sure exactly what makes our current linksys router not compatible with the Telecom ADSL2+ cabinet, but need something that is compatible.

What should I be looking for?

Can anyone offer any advice?

TP Link TD-W8960N is a great model, would reccommend it. Works well with ADSL2+ as well.

i have the same router and after my cabinet was up graded to ASDL 2 it worked fine, so im not sure why yours wouldn't work, have you been told why?

I've been looking at some of the TP link models. Can anyone advise if the TP Link TD-W8960N is using a different chipset than the TP Link TD-W8950N or is it just additional features. If you aren't using those features is there any advantage in getting the TD-W8960N?

Can the TP-link range be used in Half-Bridge mode - not something I want to do right now, but maybe later?

Havent been told why by Telecom, the research I conducted on google suggests that its a issue with the chipset in the linksys modem.

I have upgraded firmware to the latest version, and tried all conceivable settings without luck.

Telecom assure me that my line is ADSL2+, but my modem is the issue.

Given that my WAG160N is only 54Mbps wireless, and using Air-video to Ipad and Appletv, its probably time I upgraded to a wireless N device anyway.

I bought a Netgear DG834G

It was cheap as chips (sub $100) and with a custom firmware you can tune the Signal to Noise ratio. Doing this I managed to get another 2Mb/s downstream sync speed (from 4Mb to 6Mb)

For the $90 it cost me, I'm pretty happy.

Prior to that, I'd bought a TP-Link. I had nothing but grief with it (it wouldn't stay synced) so I took it back.

Audiophiles are such twits! They buy such pointless stuff: Gold plated cables, $2000 power cords. Idiots.
