Hi, and sorry for my poor English...

3 days and 3 nights... i try to work my HBH 65 on my PC (XP pro) with dongle microtune (aiptek class I) on headset profile... no way...

The profil is regognize like "HBH-65 SonyEricsson Headset Service" and the connection is Ok !
... but no sound, and no mic !!

I do all..:

1- change drivers 1.3.2.7 to 1.4.2.10 ,
2- configure audio bluetooth panel, but the 1st cursor "analog connector" is not actived ??
3- install the dongle on two other PC.. but same like "2-"

My questions:

1- Is my dongle is compatible for "Headset service" ?
2- Is the HBH-65 is compatible for "headset service on PC"

Transilica, inc
version 138
HCI version Bluetooth HCI 1.1
HCI revison 008a
LMP version Bluetooth LMP 1.1
LMP Sub Version 008a

And more generaly question (then i search, but no found answer....)
3- is it possible to chat in MSN or other with "headset service on PC"
4- what's difference with Bluetooth Class I and Class II, what's the best ?

Some older USB dongles are not compatible with this profile - for instance the first Belkin F8T001. The new version of this product works with the headset profile.

It may be the same case with your Microtune dongle.

A Class 1 device has a range of 100 meters. In general you want this for Access Points and USB dongles that you want to connect to such points. For PDA, mobile phones and headset, the 10 meters range is enough.

Yes, i think the problem is my dongle, but there is no specification when i want to buy another device.... Bluetooth manufacturer are not clear, when they sold some product ... or Bluetooth technologie is not clear ??

is it possible to chat with headset profil ?
What product for headset profil ? and good network acces point.

In 3 days,nights on the web ... i had no good response for this technologie...it's darkness

But I LIKE IT .... or i like some Darkness....

I have:
PDA PPC bluetooth
phone bluetooth
laptop bluetooth
other PC bluetooth
and... Headset

I know for sure that TDK, Bluetake, DLINK and Belkin all work with headsets. And yes, you can chat with a Bluetooth headset connected to your computer.

I finally chose, "TDK go blue Bluetooth USB Adaptor+ (250m range)" I hope that it is a good choice...

but the order spends 5 days to come....

So, I will reply this post after 5 days ..

Webwalker,

Just remember that your headset, PDA and phone each probably have a range of 5 to 8 meters at best.

Even though your PC adapter may be able to transmit/receive up to 250 meters, your range will be limited to that of your devices (i.e. 5 to 8 meters).

Thank you for this precision,

My home is not large than 250 m,
but i have 2 other PC for kids, with dongle 100 m for network acces & shared internet dsl.

And happy New Year for all ... it's time in France !

Webwalker,

The right choice for your network (i.e. Class 1 adapter)!! It's clear that even though you are new to bluetooth, you understand the physics of a wireless network.

Many new users to BT make the common mistake of going for a Class I adapter due to greater range without considering the range of their connection points. A Class II adapter may have been the better choice, but excluded simply due to range.

Looks like you've grasped the concepts and off to a great start.

I received dongle TDK, and it functions perfectly with sound and microphone.

I will continue to follow your forum, more particularly on BT, by
hoping that this technology becomes even more accessible to all.
