Hi

Can anyone recommend a make and maybe a seller of a network cable tester that can do the following.

Cable Length
Detect Fault and where the fault is in the cable.

Regards

Dion

Probably not cheap tho :)

I would love it, about $450US from ebay, google did not bring up any NZ websites and I do believe you get what your pay for.

It even has tone generation.

Cheers

I am actually working in the Central North Island for the ski season currently (a break from city life for 6 months) so a bit far away but thanks for the offer.

They have two distributers in Auckland will have to give them a call and see what the prices are.

AC Technologies in Auckland have a couple of options:
http://www.actechnologies.co.nz/?cat=TETD
I've used their MTDR020 (which also does coax)
RS and Blackbox have some some other options.

wwgsolutions.co.nz distribute JDSU gear including testers with TDR functions and cheaper ones that estimate cable length from the capacitance (from memory). Not sure if they have resellers around the country.

Time to find a new industry!
