Hi

I have a Linksys WRT54GS Wireless router running DDWRT.

Over the last few months have noticed that when visitors come to stay they can't connect via wifi.
They are using the correct key and can see the network, however the connection fails.

I've checked DHCP and this is set to 20, with only 3 other devices usually connected. Usually a re-start of the router then waiting for a few mins fixes it. Possibly the router is getting tired? Interference? Something else?

Thanks.

Hi, try loading inssider on a laptop and look for what could be interfering.

But more likely is a combination of WPA and WPA2 and if TKIP and AES is allowed, of only AES then many clients wont connect. I suggest drop it to WPA and TKIP and see if that helps.

Android phone clients seem to be a common connection fail for the above but I have noted some older laptops refuse.

Thanks Cyril,

Will give that programme a go when I get home.

It's been seen on an older Mac laptop, but also on a newer Compaq laptop running Windows 7.

I have seen this when I was playing with openwrt - the web interface had made a mess of the config files with all the interface adding and removing I had done, and it was actually trying to run 2 wifi interfaces with the same config which made things not work too well. I would suggest going in and editing the config files yourself and check that they all look ok
