looking for a good free firewall for the inlaws, they were using zonealarm :(

if they were not the inlaws then i would tell them to buy one.

I use Comodo for free firewalls. It can be "in your face" when installing new progs etc, but after that seems to be pretty unobtrusive.

Ive used Comodo also, agree with stuzz.

However, is there a reason they need a firewall ? I find most people who want a firewall, dont actually need one as theyre behind a DSL router which usually have a basic firewall on them anyway. I havent run a software firewall actively on my systems in years and never had any problems.

Agreed, most DSL or routers provide adequate protection for the network, and then standard XP/Win7 that builtin is sufficient to cover over that.

Woa, time to upgrade, $65 well spent, probably go 3x fast if they have been upgraded to ADSL2+ recently.

Eeep, understand why now :) Heh...  yeah, give Comodo a try :) Go through its settings tho and turn off the sandbox or itll drive them and you insane ;) Well..in saying that tho, thats kinda what makes Comodo good as well having the sandbox...  try it and see anyway.
