Anyone had issues with GS108 Netgear switches not performing properly if you connect anything less than GB to them? I have been having troubles at home and noticed that some of the ports on my GS108 were at 100MBit but transferring data over that connection resulted in KB/s rather than MB's. Very strange since it's a 10/100/1000 switch!

Just wondering have you double checked the network cables, could be that you have a couple of older Cat5 cables in use there rather than Cat5E or Cat6... seen it before!

If I plug into the GS105 I have, it's fine, but using the GS108 if I get a 100Mbps link (Which is fine for some devices) the transfer rates aren't properly rated. Cables have been replaced.

Have seen it before when trying to enable jumbo frames. in the end I gave up and stuck with the normal size since things would randomly go real slow to the older 100 meg stuff or else things that were on wifi, but be fine most of the time.

rich: I actually have a recollection of doing this some time ago. I can't recall when, but that's entirely possible. Thanks for the clever thinking.

Perhaps its not picking up the full duplex properly, try manually setting the 100 meg ports to 100 full duplex and see if there is any difference. Used to be a problem on 10base switches that dont have auto detect.

Time to find a new industry!
