hey guys. ive tried everything to portforward and get 1 bloody port open. ive been to portforward.com and everything. tried to get a couple friends to help. nothing. this is my last chance. hope someone can help.

i read someone helped another person with there portforwarding so ill give simple details they had to.

i have an Oputs supplied modem. and a D-Link router. ive tried both wireless and ethernet as someone told me to use these ports u need to use ethernet. sadly that didnt work. the cord from the modem to the router is plugged into the internet bit. and there is nothing in the LAN ports. i have tried portforwarding through both the router and modem and still nothing.

Hey mate since you're in Australia you can probably use PPPoE in the modem for your ADSL connection then enable full bridge to your router so you will only need to port forward in the router.

Geekzone is a NZ forum, over here most DSL connections are PPPoA like the UK not PPPoE.

If you're looking for a good Aussie geek forum you want http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/

I believe there are some pinned threads on the best options for connecting two routers over there.

Its .co.nz

Actually that strategy does work if you select "bridge" on the modem's WAN setup, then you should be able to eliminate the double NAT problems that have probably blocked the port forwarding. You have to work out which device is operating as a router and thats where the port forwarding has to be setup. You also have to be more clear about what is plugged into what, but it sounds like you don't have any LAN connections? So you would need to set your router to allocate a fixed IP to the port "destination" machine's MAC address.

Time to find a new industry!
