I am trying to connect a desktop and laptop via 2 usb dongles (MSI 6967). I have managed to perform successfully a large file transfer (20MB) using the file transfer service, but when I try to connect using network access the connection drops after a few moments.

I managed to access a web page over ics, and view some shared files on the network before it dropped, but that was a one-off, normally it doesn't last that long!

Initially the dongle was connected to the desktop via a usb hub, but i have it connected directly now.

The desktop (server) is running XP home, and the laptop is XP pro.

I'm using the latest MSI bluetooth software version 1.4.2 but i'm not sure what version of the widcomm software it is (i'm pretty new to this BT stuff!).

If anyone has any ideas i'd be thankful!!

I think maybe it has something to do with my system specs.

The 'server' machine is fine, but I think maybe the client laptop is not, as the connection seems to drop when I load up IE or my network places etc after connecting.

The main specs are PIII 450 with 64MB RAM, which I'm pretty sure is the problem as it also runs XP Pro (just about!).

Is it possible that this could be the problem, bearing in mind that the file transfer service has worked perfectly several times?
