OK i am fed up with my Belkin wireless router (F5D8636-4 v1) dropping wifi all the time and having to reconnect regularly.

I am going to try a TPLink as people seem to praise them.

Question is do i get a TD-W8960N ADSL modem with wifi router or get a TL-WR1043ND and get a separate modem. another option is to wait for the TL-WR2543ND which is dual band, i dont know if any of my devices are 5ghz though

I am connecting via wireless: 27" iMac, iPhone 4, acer a500 tab, xbox 360 slim, apple tv. I also have a windows PC sharing the iMacs wifi but that should make no difference.
Wired connection is just a windows pc that occasionally gets used.

something I probably should note that the iMac is the one having problems with wifi, it is probably because its got 4-5 walls between it and the router, they are on opposite corners of the house. unfortunately it is not possible to move the imac or router permanently.

If you want 2 units get a Draytek DV120 to handle the DSL and then you can take your pick of any router you want as gthe only requirement is PPPoE support. There are some very good dual band units available these days.

The TP-Links offer fantastic performance for the price, and are one of the best performing DSL devices around.

This might be the case for a standalone AP (assuming you are happy with the basic DSL and routing performance of the Belkin) If you can run a cable closer to the middle of the house and mount an AP up high you will get much better wifi coverage. Something like the WA901ND that supports PoE.

A new router will not get rid of the 4-5 walls, which is probably where the problem lies. That WA901ND sounds like one I had problems with a while ago, doesnt work with actual PoE but came with its own 9V injector that is fine for 20m or 30m. Wire an access point to your Belkin and set it up as a repeater.

Time to find a new industry!
