Hello.

when I do a FACTORY RESET, I can access http://dsldevice.lan/ and see my router info.

(no password required)

Now - i'm trying to set up a wireless netword (passworded).

If i go to "administrator" (top right of screen) - to change my password - it has a popup, which asks me for my password.

as soon as i go there, i cna no longer view the http://dsldevice.lan/ screen. - it has a popup thing asking for username/pasword

If i want to regain access, i need to do another factory reset

what is the correct way to change my account password ? (clicking my username - accounts, is the most obvious way).

remember - after reset, password is cleared. & yes, i've tried "Administrator / no password" and I've got the code off the bottom of my router - tried that, no luck..

i've tried Administrator / admin as the password (found that in a google search)

http://dsldevice.lan/ is whatever it's assigned and assumes the PC used to configure the device always has access to this Name/IP combination. If it's not an available IP address/name after a reset or LAN IP assignment, then it'll not work.

If you connect to the LAN interface, most probably http://192.168.1.254:80 you should be OK.

The default username/password is Administrator/[[:blank:]]

I'd disconnect from the WAN/Internet while setting up the modem.

As soon as you successfully change the password from within the pop-up window, you should be requested to login again with the username Administrator and your new password.

I'm assuming in your case the Old password should be just left as a 'nil' field with nothing inserted.

That's what my Thomson TG585v8 does without any issues.

I find it easiest to create a new user with a different name that has Admin rights, if you then reset that new accounts password and switch to the new user (using the password the thompson will give you (most likely to be exact copy of account name)) you can delete the old Adminstrator user and carry on as usual. I think the default Adminstrator password might be Adminstrator so you can try that too.

I guess a new user also has slight security benefits in that the Adminstrator account is well known as a username.
