Hi All

I am struggling to get the Google cast to be working from my Ipad to my googl cast at TV

I have followed the instruction from the Sony tv websit in regarding resetting and back to factory setting. I have also reinstall the Google cast receiver as well

I have also reset my Vodafone modem and it still didn't recognise the cast at all.

Have anyone please suggest what I have not done? Yes I am assuming that once the tv is finalised its first setup then Google cast should be ready..

Thank you for your help

Jacky

It's a separate chromecast stick you are plugging into an hdmi port?

Have you tried it on a different TV?

It depends on what version of Vodafone router you have, sometimes the firewall on them is 'overly stringent' out the box... so relaxing this slightly may help? I've had success getting Airplay to work by doing this to one router in the past.

Google Chromecast on android Tv doesn't really work like google Chromecast, you won't be able to send your full display, only the video content that supports chromecast (EG Netflix, Youtube)

I can send my full W7 display to google cast. (on a Sony) It's just the chromecast built in (which is why the android app is now called google cast instead of chromecast)

We have 2 x android TV's at work, and one would not cast correctly, but one did - the one that did was signed into my google account. I can search the full display of my android device too (either through google cast, or selecting screen mirroring on the TV)

The 'other' Chromecast typically requirs you to connect directly to it via WiFi to set it up....which means telling it what wifi AP to talk to and providing the password to it.

Once that is done, the Chromecast is on the same wifi network as you other devices and you can "cast" to it.

I'm wondering if the Google Cast function in the TV doesn't need something similar. What do the setup instructions say? Do they resemble what I just said here....is general shape?

Hi Greenbone

I have a sony smart TV which had all sorts of smart functions built in, such as Youtube facebook, twitter etc.. But it is now crippled as a smart TV as sony didn't update the software. When I did use it, it was  laggy, as they cheaped out on the processing power. So I would forget about smart function, as it may have a limited life anyway, and I would just buy a Chromecast or another external STB. Never pay extra to buy a TV based on 'smart features', unless it is the same price as a dumb TV.

BTW, to get my TV working as a smart TV wirelessly on the internet, I had to spend an extra $100+ for a sony wifi adapter (it had to be the sony one as generic ones wouldn't work) . So it could be something like that why your isn't working. But as a chromecast is only $55...
