Long story short I am over the BlueIRIS android app.

I have 3 Network cameras 2x Dahua(each side of the house) and a crappy edimax(Garage) All on LAN not wifi. The computer is more than sufficient i7 2700 16gb Ram ssd + 2x 2tb WD Purple etc.

Blue Iris works but its not reliable.(Switching from wifi to 4g its fails to reconnect automatically)

What else is out there that will send movement alerts to Android and just works?

I'm an iPhone user with 4 Dahua cameras around the house. Run Blueiris ona pretty decent I7 with lots of memory and find it quite reliable. What I don't find great and drives me nuts is the motion detection. Would love to find something new and more reliable there.

What else have you tried?

Buy a decent dedicated NVR. Better in every way.

I started with a really cheap ($50) one and it was ok, but upgraded recently to this:

and it's great. Reliable, good PC software, easy management. I recommend highly. It also has POE ports (which I don't use because they are a separate non routed network segment just for cameras and I wanted other devices to see the cameras directly as well)

There is good PC software available - but I'm no longer familiar with what it might be, or the complexity of it. A standalone box works best for me and I'm a demanding user.

I have tried iSPY with limited success I can get everything recording but the motion detection is terrible. BlueIRIS motion detection works very well for me after I figured out Hot Spot and sending alerts just from that. The Developer of BlueIRIS is ignoring the Android app and focusing on iOS according to other forums.

I too am a dahua camera user. They ahve software that runs on a PC as an NVR. I am currently running Milestone's Xprotect Essential

Great product and works well.

Unfortunately not - no push notifications, but email. I am very happy with it - especially coming from Netgear Surveillance product. They have just released a native Netgear ReadyNas paid version. The challenge with this is you license a number of camera's for 5 years and then renew...

Certainly a top notch product as it was in place at my previous employer monitoring dams and power stations.

That is what i'm finding. I did pay for BlueIris and its only around $100. I had a look on milestone site and they only sell through a few places in NZ like ECL Group... Nuf said about them...

Would definitely give the free version a go along with the mobile app. the email alerting is good and to find free NVR/VMS software that supports 8 cameras ( i only have 4) that offers these features is pretty hard to beat.

My usage profile is general coverage of property and people coming and going. Checking on courier drivers that leave "no one home" cards when I was. Monitoring kids home from school (email alerts).

yep - great product and their AI for detection is second to none. I had this before they were bought out and became sighthound - just have not been able to save enough pennies and hence still in the free market...speaking of Zone Minder may also be another option.

Used Ispy for a while, but too many false alarms. Using Blueiris and find it very good.

The android app is not that great, but hardly every use it.

I looked at that a while back, and while it seems quite decent, it's (*&^£$&£ Windows-based, which means I'd need to patch and update and patch and patch and update and nurse and coddle and patch and nurse the thing for the rest of eternity, which really put me off using it. Is there something like this that you can drop on a Linux box and leave to run itself?

I don't use Sighthound as my NVR but do have it running for notifications. It has brilliant detection of people which is probably unmatched in anything else.

Motion detection is on its way out these days anyway - things like IVS on the Dahua cameras allowing you to detect movement based on zones or A<->B movement work way better.

For anyone considering buying a hardware based NVR - 'Here be dragons' - they region lock many of the NVR models and you can end up with a device stuck in Chinese even if you get the English firmware it doesn't work after flashing and shows gibberish unless you revert it. You also have to get the firmware through a reseller rather than say Dahua directly so all in all - I would recommend buying from someone you can trust.

Fortunately most cameras seem to allow re-flashing to different languages so no problems there.

I would suggest that is specific to Hikvision. To the best of my knowledge, Dahua aren't doing it? And really, this will only affect people looking for bottom dollar NVR kit.

Personally, I think if it's a) for home b) you like tinkering, and c) you are not a complete network retard, just get the cheap as hell Hikvision/Dahua NVR's off Aliexpress. Don't get the little square ones, get the larger metal case, built in PoE, model - just better specs all round. They are exactly the same as what you get from the likes of Atlas or other NZ importers. They just have hacked firmware to get them in english. Which again, as long as you aren't doing anything retarded, won't be a problem.

For a business, just either pay the the extortionate pricing of an Atlas Gentech reseller (or go and talk to a distributor that actually likes their customers), and get a proper, supported, solution.

OP - Can't comment on software NVR solutions sorry, haven't used them enough.
