Hi All, This is a bit of a review/rant & hopes for some changes. I'm new to geekzone

I purchased 2x cleverloop systems just over a year ago I was excited for a few reasons. Those being that cleverloop was NZ based, did not force cloud subscription on you but still gave you cloud access, it was smart & used AI to determine the alerts vs movements, had geofencing, it had 2 way audio for the indoor cameras, and that the company support looked strong.

Unfortunately I'm sad to say that it looks like its all going down hill. Here is my experience with cleverloop & I'm hoping someone from cleverloop or other users can offer some help or tips.

The main issue i faced was with tree shadows and wind. I've opened up a number of tickets for shadows and wind with cleverloop. I've seen the algorithm and their app get significantly better for one season but as soon as the seasons changed it seemed to go right back to how it was before with multiple alerts.

Whats also significant is that cleverloop seemed to be on an innovation or development kick for a while up until the end of 2017. They had introduced version 3.0.0 and added dahua camera support around that time. I was excited to see dahua support added as dahua cameras are among the best available (take a look at IPcamtalk, its a great resource). However toward the end of 2017 it all seemed to fade. There was an update in November to 3.0.5 for their android app but it was only a bug fix.

The reason I think its all going down hill is that just as fast as cleverloop added dahua support they have dropped it having it for a little less then one year. They say now that the agreement with dahua is no more. I cant believe you would support a company's cameras and then drop the support. It also seems that the algorithm updates and app updates are no more. Its been seven months since any update to the app and I thought I maybe the only one with these issues but then I found this thread: https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=73&topicid=207788

So I know I'm not the only one now. My big question now is how much longer with cleverloop be in business and once its gone will our cameras just stop working? I hope my predictions are wrong but the dropping of dahua support is a big bad sign, along with no updates in 6 months.

Is anyone else concerned?

There seems to be an issue with this company. All the stock items in their store are marked as "sold out". I wonder if they have financial issues and maybe on credit stop with their suppliers.

The companies Facebook page has seen no activity since mid 2017

Yes i am also finding the support is drying up for them.  My geo fence thing has not been working correctly for about 4 months (with a number of different phones).  I am lucky however as i also have an arlo system in place.

I had a feeling a couple of years ago it would end up like this, just going off hardware sales is not a good idea.  I would have been happy to pay a monthly amount for the cloud storage and smarter AI.

Sad, This is the same conclusion I've had. I think its the end of cleverloop, RIP. Again I hope I'm wrong.

I picked one up second hand a few months ago to use with a couple of Dahua cameras. A few niggles getting them configured, but got them running, and they're still working right now.

Geo arming has definitely fallen over though, wasn't sure if it was the Android 8 update, or other.

Glad it's not just me. Sent them some snotty feedback yesterday as the system is now basically useless. GeoFence has not worked for months, it is over sensitive to light and shadows yet misses people! I see they have been getting a lot of 1* ratings on the Play Store. Got an acknowledgment this morning that they have raised a ticket from my feedback but not holding out much hope :-(

Pretty much sums up the performance here also. People and cars are often ignored, but shadows and lights moving set it off. The indoor cameras are pretty flaky and occasionally beep like they've just been powered up. That beep is really loud at 2am!

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

So what is the next system people are going to look at?

There is not much around with geo fencing working correctly :(

This is a possible replacement for cleverloop.

https://www.ispyconnect.com/man.aspx?n=Clever+Loop

I'm testing it using the "Agent" software, no port forwarding setup

It has a free app for mobile phone.

The main disadvantage seems to be the need for a pc to be running.

It's free for up to two cameras. And cheap subscription if more features are required.

Shares cleverloop cameras with no problems

Received the following from Sam on a support ticket:

We have noticed an issue with Android 8 as it's not backwards compatible with quite a few apps, including the CleverLoop. It is causing problems with geofencing. Our guys are working on releasing an update and hope to have this within about 10 days. That should resolve the issue.

We've been out of stock for a little while and confirmed recently that CleverLoop is unfortunately no longer available in New Zealand. It is however still available in the USA and is continuing to run.
