Hey guys,

I'm just looking at picking up some Xiaomi Blind motors.

Does anyone have any experience with them? I have never had blinds before so this is all new to me.

Does anyone know if they fit NZ blinds?

will I need special adapters/fitting/mounts from a blinds perspective? (power is straight forward)

if there is a Maximum length as I have a 5.4m window?

I figured I better update this, I've ordered one for science. They fit in to a 50mm Aluminium tube, and the below parts are the additional ones I need to complete the installation.

Ill see what I can get here in NZ but will probably need to get the whole lot from Aliexpress. But at $80 USD for a quality Zigbee motor it seems like a good deal

What size tube do NZ blinds use?

I cant find any info on what Aluminum tube are used in NZ - I know nothing about blinds so thats why i've ordered a sample. I had one guy over to measure yesterday but it turns out they dont do automated ones.

My goal is a Zigbee controlled blind system, so if this is a failure I can go with the much more expensive Qmotion system, dont really want to though.

Thanks, It seems the ali tubes come in 2 sizes 38mm and 50mm - at least in China - if thats any help.

For roller blinds, I use onlineblinds.co.nz. Really good quality and amazing value. They have an automated roller blind option, though I strongly suspect it won't be Zigbee. However, if you phone and ask for David, he will be able to tell you the exact size and specifications of all their stuff - I've spoken to him a few times and he is super helpful.

I'm currently doing an automation project for venetian blinds. Signs look promising so far, will report back once the project is done.

I contacted onlineblinds.co.nz but the weren't interested in making the blinds for them at all, despite roughly having the right tube size for them and I said I could get the adapters for them.

Ill have to try and find some other company, once the motor arrives ill go visit a few locally.

I checked mine that were purchased last year and they seem to be a 40mm tube

IO used rodsandblinds.co.nz and got 38mm blackout blinds for my lounge about 18 months ago. I used battery powered remote control blind motors from Aliexpress

Got a 15 channel wall controller as well and have it integrated into Homeassistant and Amazon Echo through an RMpro. "Alexa, close the blinds"

Works perfect. Batteries in each blind last ages. Consindered the ludicrously overpriced solar panels to keep them charged but ended up building my own tiny panels+charge controller for about $5 per blind.
