Can anybody recommend a good, realistic galaxy projector\night light for a bedroom?  I know there's plenty online but looking for first hand experience or recommendations.  Bonus points if it has a decent white noise generator.  It's for a present for SO, so happy to spend a bit on it.

I have the kmart one. Its the same as a friends one he got off a website for much more but has wifi. Its not what I would call useful for anything. Only a small noise from the thing when spinning, no white noise.

I went down a bit of a rabbit hole with these when I was researching one for my lad.. its kind of a strange market but this guy pretty much kick started his youtube channel reviewing them and has quite a decent amount of reviewed products https://www.youtube.com/c/FUTURESPACECOLLECTIVE/videos

Mightyape sell quite a variety of them and I ended up getting the lad the astronaut one as it would sit on his bookshelf nicely and blend in with a few other toys he has on there. The head is the angle adjustor as well so worked out really nicely as quite a few I looked into you had to place in the center of the room for the best results.

We don't have any other ones to compare it to but the quality of the projection of this one is perfectly acceptable for a 7 year olds bedroom

Mightyape do have a one with a white noise generator

It depends on what you mean by ‘accurate’! If you want an accurate portrayal of stars then I understand the Sega Homestar Flux is pretty decent, and you can buy a disc for the Southern Hemisphere. Not cheap though; see https://www.segatoys.space/en/public/flux.html

If you’re more after atmospheric lighting, I love the Kogan galaxy/star projector I have in my bedroom, but more for the awesome ‘galaxies’ rather than the ‘stars’ which are a bright green (so are much better dimmed right back). The unit can be controlled by app and is also GH and Alexa compatible so can be turned on/off with voice command and routines (if you have a GH device like a Nest Mini or Nest Hub you could have a routine to turn on both the projector and white noise on the GH device).

And I’m sure there’s stuff in between in terms of realism/accuracy…

Thanks for the replies! I didn't know kmart had one so will look into it.

I have one that I got my daughter a while back - sounds like the kogan one though it's not the  - it's cool but doesn't really have realistic looking stars or galaxies. Thanks for the link to youtube channel, that's exactly what I need as I'm guessing it shows some examples?

My SO quite liked the one I got through mighty ape, but she wants something more "realistic" (doesn't have to be accurate, just look like real stars and galaxies not bright green led points) I believe her exact words were something like "I want to feel like I'm in the expanse" since that was one of her favourite tv shows of the last few years ;D  I have seen the flux but yeah that's getting a wee bit expensive! Currently I'm looking at the "Encalife Atmosphere Smart Galaxy Star Projector"

I think the kogan one is the same as the kmart one which is like a crapload of other ones that have either the wifi or the cheap card remote to set the colour of the LED and turn the laser and motor on and off.

Brought one of these for my daughter.  Goes well, not terribly realistic on the stars, but the galaxy effect is pretty cool.  She likes it.
