I have a gadget that came from China with 4 x ANDALI AA R6P sexual batteries.

Anyway, there's got to be a reason for the name, because the positive end pin is much longer than I've seen on any other battery. This is crucial because the T-shaped plastic bits inside the battery compartment that hold the positive terminals in place are way too long. So even though Andali batteries touched the terminals, any other mainstream brand I tried simply doesn't reach all the way.

I'm a bit reluctant to modify the compartment by trimming the plastic or adding solder on top of the terminals, and would rather just try and find a battery that fits. It doesn't have to be sexual either.

Forgive my MS Pain skills, but this is what I mean.

Any ideas anyone?

Googling "sexual battery" does not help - trust me!!!!!!!
Never heard that term for a battery cell.

That bit on the end is sometimes called a nipple - maybe include that in your searches. Odd that your device has such a design on the positive end. There seems to have been a trend to flatter tops on batteries.

Yeah, I'm not sure if googling for long nipples is going to get me any closer to finding the batteries I'm after.

How about placing a small piece of metal in the holder to fill the gap and to make the contact between the terminal and the battery - and that would just sit there, held in place by the battery.

I have a remote like that and had to get Kodak alkaline ones from Crackerjack to actually connect. My usual varta ones didn't. Still often disconnects as it's borderline big enough.

I think its either a drop of solder on the +ve end of each battery, or something like this:

18650 gasket flat tip becomes strong magnet pieces small magnet flashlight battery spacer

I saw another forum mention small magnets as a possible fix. Don't know if the ones above are the right size for you...

So far a short amount of searching has only turned up that the AA +ve terminal height is 1mm minimum I've not found any references to a reason why some would have a longer terminal or holders recessing the contact. It would stop reverse polarity but why choose that method?

I have had contact problems where terminals lost tension with age. I just put a small nut into the space to fill the gap, similar to suggestions above. It is an easy and effective fix.

That's what I was going to suggest, I have a torch that makes really bad contact at the base so just put in a small slug of copper improvised from heavy-gauge copper wire and now it makes perfect contact, probably vastly better than the original Chinesium-based contact that it replaced. Fixing the contact is going to be much easier than finding nonstandard-sized batteries.

There's some weird confusion on that site over adult vs. non-adult stuff. I wanted to do a quick check whether they had NTP servers that were cheaper than the usual Symmetricom gear (hint: pretty much everything is) and had to click past a roadblock warning accepting that I was entering an adult version of the site. It wasn't even a case of mistaken identity, they really were just NTP servers and a few false matches of print servers and the like.
