I have a Netatmo Outdoor Camera. Both the floodlight and infrared light seem to have more or less permanently failed. Tried all the usual things (factory reset, power cycle, etc.) and they will come back - sometimes - on a power cycle but then the next day it's the same issue. Reading the Netatmo forums it seems to be a common failure mode of this device necessitating a whole unit replacement (they don't do repairs, apparently).

Given floodlight device is more-or-less permanently installed in the house, like any other fixture by a registered electrician (i.e. it's not consumable), and I paid $469, how long would you expect the device to "reasonably" last per CGA?

How long have you had it deployed? although its a weather station and outdoor, its reasonable to presume environmental wear and tear will degrade the unit relatively quickly. 2 years sounds unreasonable, 5 years you'd be doing very well I think (for a consumer weather station).

It's a subjective discussion.

10 years+ for the floodlight, maybe 15.

Just because there's some smart malarkey in them the manufacturers seem to think you should be changing these things every time a new iPhone is released.

Nope, it's not a weather station. It's a floodlight with a camera that can be accessed with a smart phone app. It's installed outside under the eaves so not subjected to rain, etc.

After I mentioned CGA the retailer told me that "CGA repairs take longer". I cautioned the retailer that misleading consumers as to their rights under the Act may be an offence and copied in the compliance manager. The issue was sorted the next day and I was given written confirmation that refund will be provided for.
