Hi All

Is it possible to get some perspective regarding Fire TV 4K Max? I have a Gigabit fibre connection with a Mesh Network. My Fire TV 4K Max will always get dropped off WIFI Connection all the time. It works fine for few hours after restart/rebooting. Anyone with Ideas on how to solve this? I do not want to totally reset the system. Would like some input regarding this.

Thanks

Depends a bit on your environment.  How far from AP, is it 5ghz or 2.4ghz or both, what is the FireTV connecting as (5ghz or 2.4ghz) etc

My Mesh network network is sitting in the dining room and the TV is on the living area. It is a one storey house. Fire TV 4K Max is with 5 GHZ channel as it gets the highest speed with that (supposed to anyways).

Don't really know what to tell you.

I have 300/100 fibre and 2 TP-Link Deco mesh units. One unit downstairs and one upstairs.

The downstairs unit is only a meter or so from the Fire TV 4k max on the family TV. The Fire TV has always been rock solid.

The bedroom TV also has a Fire TV 4k max and is maybe 10m from the upstairs mesh wifi unit.

Likewise that Fire TV is rock solid too.

They are smallish units, so logically they wont have big aerials in them - but they arent bad.

Have you made sure the AFTV is up to date with software updates?

Have you gone into the connections menu on the AFTV and run the connections test thing? Is that ok?

Does your wifi have any mode that drops unused items after a period of time - I think some have that sort of mode.

Have you tried powering off your mesh units and restarting?

Hi

I have done the main router switch off and On with Mesh few times. The software on the Firetv is up to date. I have done the speed test on the unit. I have two, I one in man cave and one in the house. Man cave one is getting 320 MBPS and and the one inside gets more than 120 MBPS. I tried swapping but as soon as i put the man cave one inside, it plays up like similar like i am having issues. So I have no idea what is causing.

I have 5 of them at home now since they were so cheap, all work totally reliable on my unifi 802.11ac accesspoints. Have 2 for work, they are on unifi wifi 6 APs and also working rock solid for weeks at a time showing signage.

Check the frequencies your 5Ghz network is using as the Fire Sticks don't work with all of the frequency blocks.

Sorry I do not understand This. The firestick shows that it is connected to 5GHZ wifi and it works, but the main issue is it will buffer and drops off. It fixes the issue when gets rebooted couple of times. I just do not like watching something and then having buffer when the speed is more than adequate. That is only issue i am trying to solve here.

Have you tried without the mesh satellites? I have a mesh sat here that will disconnect my Amazon Echo devices and sometimes a laptop connected to the sat can't maintain a reliable connection. If I turn that off and keep only the router, everything works fine.

Most of these mesh systems use some Wi-Fi standards to direct the client to connect to one point or another. Sometimes these aren't correctly implemented (either on client or access point) and devices may lose connections.

Different brand, but it could be the problem.

I have one, have had since the day they were released and I love mine. I have good wireless coverage and a fast internet connection and I don't recall having had any issues with buffering etc. I have had the odd issue running plex client on it, a reboot usually fixes it.

Mine has been stable quite a long time now that I think about it, haven't had to reboot for a few months.
