You can also cast your whole PC screen to the telly as well.. It's just in "Experimental" mode and a bit laggy.

With no audio, I believe.

Yeah, no audio on TV, but will come out through your PC speakers.

Spiker: No luck at all with Netflix. Have however been happily opening MP4's with Chrome & casting to the telly.

I spent a little bit of time to get Netflix working and finally nailed it. I'm impressed how easy to use and how responsive it is.

I used this command in on my dd-wrt enabled router:

iptables -I PREROUTING -t nat -p udp -s >>>your chromecast ip here<<< --dport 53 -j DNAT --to-destination>>>unblock-us dns ip here<<<

Now I can ditch the "smart tv" Samsung software.

Just seen this on reddit, http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/08/21/fling-java-tool-streams-local-pc-media-to-chromecast-uses-vlc-to-transcode-practically-any-format/

The tool uses VLC to transcode formats and Java to cast to Chromecast. Could be worth looking at, currently at work but I'll try when I get home.

I had a quick look at that before, it detected my Chromecast but didn't seem to like the videos I tried to drag into it. Have to see what I did wrong after class.

Grrr.. Still having problems with casting sound on using tab-casting... Tried all the settings and it still isn't working... Maybe a faulty Chromecast? Hope not...

Mixed success with tabcasting. Fine for some file:// targets, but this failed miserably:

Two arrived for me yesterday, had them setup in a couple of minutes. Great luck streaming mp4s in a chrome tab from my desktop, a bit too choppy from an under-powered laptop until lowering to SD. I'll fiddle with the router settings tonight and see if I can get an acceptable stream from the lappy. Makes my recent Google Music All Access subscription really worth the price.

So I'd love to finally get Netflix running, but I'm on Vodafone BB. Sounds like I'll need to run the whole router through a VPN?

Hi, hope this isn't to off topic, but it does relate to some things that have being discussed.

Have just had a american flatmate move in, and he has with him a chromecast, and a netflix subscription. My current setup is Vodafone UFB trial with a Vodafone station He's able to get netflix playing on the laptop (using a DNS service), but is unable to get netflix via the chromecast. A friend of his has a Cisco Linksys E2500 router with dd-wrt, and reckons that it can be configured to enable Netflix to be played through the chromecast. Is the Vodafone station necessary for the UFB (e.g. it acts as a modem), or can it be replaced with the Linksys E2500 router? If not, is it possible to put the SHG1500 into bridge mode, and attach the Linksys E2500 to it, or have some sort of setup where the Linksys E2500 becomes the primary router? Additionally, if can get it setup, would there be any issues with Vodafone and transparent proxies etc?

Any help would be appreciated.
