I thought the dimmer 2 was certified as well?

Does anyone know what LED drivers would suit the dimmer? I've got a new build house with all new LEDs etc, I've put some shelly 1s in which work great but I would love to be able to use some dimmers, I'm pretty sure I need to replace the drivers, we wired a dimmer up and the LEDs started intermittently flashing which I think is a driver issue?

So that is interesting because the device has an EU conformity certification, and as I understand it NZ has a mutual recognition arrangement with the EU:

So that would mean that if certified there then it also means certified here? Or am I missing something?

No. The conformity agreements mean that NZ products that have been certified compliant to EU standards can be shipped to the EU with appropriate labeling and no further checks have to be done there. This also works in reverse for EU products coming to NZ. If this was the case Shelly wouldn't have got the devices certified to the relevent ASNZS.

As far as I'm aware, the importer can complete a SDOC on just about anything (that is compliant), not sure what the process is.

It is really unclear....MBIE says this:

Under the Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement section is says:

Most MRAs do not permit a product that is saleable in one jurisdiction to be sold in another jurisdiction simply on its compliance in the first.

But then a little further on under the EU section it says this:

The European Union (EU) – New Zealand Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) was the first substantial trade facilitating agreement to be negotiated applying to Electrical and Electronic (EE) products. Its coverage includes electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electrical safety. It applies to all low voltage electrical and electronic products.

It was negotiated as a matched pair of agreements between New Zealand and Australia and the EU, and allows the partners to test, and where required, certify products traded between Australasia and the EU.

The EU MRA applies EN standards for products destined for Europe, and AS/NZS standards and approval requirements (certification) for products destined for New Zealand or Australia. Its implementation in Australia is subtly different to its application in New Zealand, but it does allow testing in either country to apply to products from either country. For New Zealand, the EU issued certification is recognised as constituting a New Zealand ‘approval’.

So does this mean:

1. If it has EU approval it's good to go in NZ (and vice versa); or

2. We'll let you test it in the EU to NZ standards and if you approve it we'll believe you.

If #2 that seems like a really lame inclusion in a trade agreement because then it is more about 'lab certification' than product certification....

Anyway, better get back work and earn some $$.

Bit late to the party, but was wondering if anyone could recommend a wellington/kapiti coast electrician who could install these?

Hoping to install a few just so we can activate a few outdoor/indoor lights away from home. As well as potentially activating ducted heating too!

Yes, they will work well - particularly with the "push and hold" function for dimming.

I do too...they work fine. Would suggest you don't connect the LED wires in bedrooms...they are crazy bright. In other parts of the house they are cool as they help guests find light switches....

I have some more Shelly units coming...hopefully this week and then I'll have done almost every light switch in the house...I have a pretty basic automation to dim the lights to a certain level depending on time of day (100% during the day, minimum at night, and a few steps in between) when the lights are triggered. This was so popular that everyone now wants all the lights to be smart. :-)

Thanks - yes I have the blue leds on already. Don't mind them but I have had guests staying with us who found them too bright - electrical tape did the trick.
