I've had a similar problem, Wifi started continuously failing on two different spark hg695b modems and needed a reset at least once per day.

I didn't connect it with the vacuum until your post as the vacuum had been running for a couple of weeks before the issue came up.

I bought a ubiquiti ap and that's solved the problem so far.

My aunty thinks that robot vacuums don't work on dark carpet, can anyone confirm if this is true or not?

Yes that's true as the vacuum cliff sensors think it's falling off of a cliff i.e a black hole. You could cover up the sensors with tape but that would make the cliff sensors inoperable.

We have a rug that is black and white and ours works fine on the black patches. I suspect it depends on the specifics of the surface.

While waiting delivery of mine, could I get a few questions answered?

1 What is the smallest gap it can fit into and how much does it stick out from the wall when its in the dock? Just trying to select a place for the dock to live.

2 Is the Mi Home app in Chinese or English? I understand the manual is Chinese but that can be sorted with Google Translate I guess.

i thought you were just joking but i googled it

im pretty sure the xiaomi wont have this problem though, it does a radar thing to sense the room (as seen in the app)

However I cannot confirm this, my carpet is cream and my wood flooring is light. doesnt fall down my stairs though :)

1. it can fit basically the diameter of the vacuum, it doesnt stick out much, its pushes hard up against the dock. so diameter + about 4 cm for dock.

2. app is in english, select mainland china for you region though for the english voice pack (crazy i know, but not available in any other region). I get some notifications in Chinese, but i thinnk these are mostly ad type messages from their store. 95% of messgaes from the app are in english. 100% of messages ive heard from the vacuum after switching voice packs is in english.

@sonyxperiageek Have you actually seen the Mi Vac not working on dark carpet?

I thought it was just an urban myth.

I was told the same for my Romba, but it works fine on near black carpet, and has no problems transitioning from dark to white.

Well to be honest, the XiaoMi Robot Vacuum has been fine over our rug. That exact same rug would not be gone over by my review unit Roomba 980 no matter how often I pushed it towards it. Just would not go. Asked on Twitter, and iRobot confirmed to me that it does not work over dark spots. XiaoMi a clear winner here!

Not an application, I got a new wireless Access Point and disabled the wifi on the hg695b. Probably not the cheapest option but I couldn't identify the cause and figured it was a hardware failure.

I can't really see how the vacuum could be disabling the hg695b wifi, especially as I had it using the guest SSID, so I'm still not certain that this was the issue.

Right, that makes more sense, thanks. I think I have a spare AP that's still in the roof but not plugged in. Will try and switch that on see if it helps.

Sorry if that's been talked about before in this thread but I just managed to hook up Google Assistant to the Vacuum so I can trigger a clean up using my phone or Google Home.

If anyone is interested, I can post more details.
