Isn't the dongle going to be hidden away either behind TV or behind HT receiver?

Can't find any info to see if it supports DLNA streaming? If that was the case I could use it to replace xbox.

No

Chromecast and Airplay are walled-garden proprietary systems.

I'm interested to see what developers come up with for it, considering it has an API. The power cable thing is a bit of a let down but yeah, I suppose it will be hidden behind the TV

Yes the fact that the pictures shown for the Chromecast didn't have an additional USB power supply was a bit misleading for me.

Ok... Will order one anyway (for US$35, why not?)

We will obviously continue to use our HTPC as Media Center does a great job of showing Freeview|HD (thanks to the HDHomeRun in our LAN) but we're getting a tablet - after never wanting to actually having one we decided Bella needed something for school activities at home, so we decided to get an Android tablet for the family. It could be a good pairing with the Chromecast, so that'll do it.

I wonder if the experience is better than Youtube Leanback, which i tried from my tablet the other night with poor results.

Yeah, saw that.. :( I'll probably just order now, and when it becomes available, Amazon will then charge me for it.

Did you manage to get it while it was in stock?

From Amazon? If so, how much was Youshop to ship all of them together?
