Yep, it's cut down. Apparently it doesn't have a desktop.

hellonearthisman: What software is that Behodar? I found the oDroid has most of the software the Pi has.

I run Risc OS on my Pi; it seems that the oDroid only runs Linux and Android. Granted, the speed benefits of Risc OS may no longer be relevant with faster hardware, but I really don't want to learn the mess that is Linux!

And that windows 10 news is interesting, but I think it will be heaps cut down as I have not see a windows tablet with less than 2GB ram.

The press conference was interesting, not one mention of Android OS even though the Pi now has the memory to run it.

Windows 8.1/10 (even with a desktop) runs fine on 1GB of RAM

I bought my original Raspberry Pi from Element14, a kit that included the Pi and a clear case.

After just a quick look on the Element14 website I couldn't find anything similar for the Pi 2 (couldn't find any cases or kit that includes both). Am I just looking in the wrong place?

Not much point in buying a new Pi unless I can get a case with it at the same time, I don't want to make my own.

Give it time, they were only announced yesterday! I am not sure but I think they have the same layout as the RPi Model B+ - so I presume all cases for these will also work just fine for the RPi v2.0?

yes indeed, 1GB RAM and 16GB disk space, and more free diskspace than a 16GB iPad :P

With 10 on Pi2 - I'm guessing this is some way of making use of the windows for ARM work, now that RT is gone?

Edit: Or the phone kernel I guess lol, nevermind me..not enough coffee today

Anyways. I want a Pi 2, now!

Not much point in buying a new Pi unless I can get a case with it at the same time, I don't want to make my own.

I tend to buy my cases of ebay for less than $5 from China. I haven't looked closely but at first glance the RPi2 looked to have the same footprint and connector locations as the model B so a model B case could fit. I think we'll see bundles soon enough.

I ordered a couple of these last night when I saw the videos hit youtube about it. Might be able to get a usable desktopish thing out of one of them now, the old one was too slow to be able to do anything on.

So I guess we will have to wait and see if the Windows 10 will have a desktop environment or will have an Intel Galileo IoT win10 version with no desktop support.

All my friends with Pi don't use the various Arm linux ports even though they could

Hard to know what they meant by go with 2 as 1 never supported Windows anyway

Windows 8 requires the ARMv7 architecture + MP Extensions + NEON (SIMD)

Raspberry Pi is an ARM1176JZF-S which is the ARM6k architecture which is not supported by Windows 8. It lacks the instruction set, synchronization, page table management, coprocessor support, etc. that are necessary to run Windows 8.

Ive got one that I use to just play an ip camera or USB camera fullscreen on the HDMI port - even that is painfully slow to change anything on with the current pi. More speed is desperartly needed with it so the version 2 will be interesting to see how it goes.
