This looks to be a significant step up in terms of processing power and speed. 1GB of RAM and a quad core CPU.

A
nd at the same price as the original!

Such an awesome little device at a brilliant price point.

I wonder if the USB ports still share bandwidth with the Ethernet port?

This is very interesting! Have been looking for something more powerful for a while now, this is quite timely

Nice. Might be a good boost for my media center, which works well but being a bit more snappy wouldn't go amiss. Then again if it works I'll probably keep it.

Naturally this comes shortly after I bought a B+ (the card detect sensor on my B decided to fail).

Just brought a b+ 2 weeks ago :(

Wait a minute, How come the only site reporting this seems to be The Register and the official raspberry pi site and social media says nothing?

I think the Pi update is too little too late. They didn't plan to release a faster board until 2017, but competition has made them rethink that.

I went for the oDroid-C1 $35 like the Pi but a 1.5Ghz Quad core GPU, 1Gb ethernet and eMMC4.5 HS200 Flash Storage slot or UHS-1 SD card.
Even using the SD card and not the faster eMMC storage it does 30Mb/s vs Pi's 20Mb/s

To me it looks like a quick attempt at catchup.

http://www.cnx-software.com/2015/02/02/raspberry-pi-2-model-b/ has a better post as the register rushed their story and made a few errors.

It depends what you're doing, of course. That oDroid won't run the software that I use, for example.

What software is that Behodar? I found the oDroid has most of the software the Pi has.

Will it run Raspbmc (or any equivalent XBMC clients)?

The Pi does and the oDroid-c1 runs Kodi/xbmc which comes in the standard ubuntu os image.

"For the last six months we’ve been working closely with Microsoft to bring the forthcoming Windows 10 to Raspberry Pi 2. Microsoft will have much more to share over the coming months. The Raspberry Pi 2-compatible version of Windows 10 will be available free of charge to makers"

Not bad.

Sorry, yeah I meant on the oDroid. I am running a couple of the original RPi Bs with Raspbmc and they get daily use, and have been running sweet for a couple of years. Great system, but these RPI v2.0s might just make them that much better...

Same SummerBoy great media centers.

http://makezine.com/2015/02/02/microsoft-windows-support-raspberry-pi-2/

And that windows 10 news is interesting, but I think it will be heaps cut down as I have not see a windows tablet with less than 2GB ram.

The press conference was interesting, not one mention of Android OS even though the Pi now has the memory to run it.
