Not much luck with the receipt but I did discover that I had 2 brand new WEMO makers. I put one up on trade me and it went for $251.00 and had lots of bidders. The one I have left has had the box opened but has never been installed
So I'm oferring the second on here to anyone who is interested, make me an offer that I can't refuse. I can do a tracked courier for $9.00 or you can pickup from Papakura.

Was about to say the same thing. They were US$80 new, and they're discontinued now. My $20 solution above should work just as well.

How do you configure the software on this one? I've been experimenting with Tasmota on a Wemos so intrigued about ESPEasy.

It's pretty easy. It sets itself up as an access point first, so you connect to that and use a web interface to set the ssid and password of your home network. It reboots and then appears on your network. Next, you use the web interface to set up the I/O function for each pin. You can link these functions to variables in Domoticz, or you can use a URL to set or read the state of the function.

It's really hard to make a general description. It's much easier to just try it. Functions include simple buttons and on/off output control, temperature sensors, humidity sensors, and other common devices.

One of the handy things is a built-in scripting language. You can make a complex function from a simple set of actions. For example I am using one for a lawn sprinkler. The home automation software triggers one of these scripts to turn on the sprinkler valve. At the same time the script does two things. One, it turns off all the valves before turning on the requested one, and two, sets a timer. When the timer expires all valves are turned off.

This means that the control software doesn't need to remember which valves it turned on (but it could) and if the software crashes then the local timer will eventually turn everything off.

Thanks. Does it handle doing stuff over MQTT easily?

The Wemo light switches also can go for crazy money as well, I saw one get up to $250 and it was secondhand . I think I bought mine for $30 each so I was tempted to rip them out and sell them to fund zwave for the entire house.

To the OP. Did you ever get the Chamberlain? I must admit I am eyeing that myself now. Looks like it will be compatible with my garage door which is made by Merlin but on the label says technology licensed from Chamberlain Group Inc.

Looked at opengarage but can't see how that would work with two cars since it seems to want you to measure the distance between the top of the open garage door and the roof of your car and then the garage floor. But what happens if the other car is out?

I realise that the Chamberlain unit requires an annual sub to use Google Assistant but I don't really have a use case for using Assistant to control the door. Just want to be able view the door status away from home and close it I have left it open. I have to walk to garage to get the car anyway and pass the door opener on the way :-)

That's not much help when you can't buy those units anymore
