If you haven't set DST in the NVR then it's going to be an hour out since it's NZDT at present which is GMT +13

This should be set to NZ DST settings - last SUnday of Sept at 0200 and 1st Sun in April 0300

Sorry for the late response. Been out.

My NVR doesn't have GMT times.. only UTC.

In regards to DST, heres a screenshot of the NVRs date & time: (please confirm if it is right) Thnx:

Oh and also, what value/number should I out for the "IPC Time sync period (hour)? right now it is at 24.

P.S. Notice the NVR time is like 6mins slower than the current pc time (8:52pm).

rscole86: Gmail is pretty unreliable now, you'll see several people saying it doesn't work. It stopped working for me, couldn't get it going again. I'm now having to use a Live account for email notifications.

Thanks for letting me know. I'm going to make a live/outlook account now. Though what are the "Required Settings" for Live eg. SMTP Server, Port, user, pass...encrypt type etc?

I really don't understand what you're actually doing. When you plug a camera into the NVR POE port the NVR assigns it a static IP address that is applied to the camera and is visible in the NVR when you look at the camera settings. There is no need to set anything in the camera or do any "setup".

The only exception is some newer camera firmware released if you're running old NVR software where you can't initialise cameras because they now require a password to be set - but once you set a password in the camera the NVR still assigns the camera it's own NAT IP once you plug it into the NVR POE port.

Yep, you are correct about the when plugging camera into NVR POE the NVR assigns a static ip address to that camera. However, since the ip address is assigned/begin as 10.1.1.66, I was not able to initialise the camera so one of the guys from the ipcamtalk recommend me to change it to 192.168.xx.x which then fixed that problem for me. And yes, all my cameras have a password assigned to them 😀.

Your DST settings are still wrong. They need to be set to what I posted above.

Clicking manual update will update the time from the NST server.

I've spotted a couple of times in your posts you mention a PoE switch - you aren't trying to run a camera off a separate network switch and giving it access to the internet are you? All cameras should be plugged directly into the NVR unless you know what you're doing re VLANs

The time settings are definitely DST related - have set a lot of these up and it's always the DST setting and/or the timezone setting that makes the time changes not stick

After seeing another thread last night where the OP was struggling to configure a UniFi switch they had purchased for their CCTV cameras I really don't think it's possible to know how they have things configured. They've said multiple times on the ipcam talk thread and here that the cameras are plugged into the POE ports on the NVR, but in light of them now having gone and purchased a switch as well for the cameras it would seem that is not the case.

My suggestion for the OP would be to call an expert and pay them to come in and help configure your system.

Now I'm just going to leave it as this and test to see if it changes on it's own. IP Cameras are indeed connected to the POE Switch as advised by others on ipcamtalk and Reddit, Youtube. But since @snnet stated that ip cameras should be connected to the NVR, I have just done that and still SMTP emails are not working/getting triggered. Only thing working in the SMTP is the "testing" part which I get the "succeed" message when testing it.

You still haven't got the correct DST settings and haven't set them to what I posted above so your DST time will still be wrong still - DST doesn't start in April and end in September. You also don't have a NTP server set or enabled so the NVR has no way to actually get the correct time.

Check the box NTP and for server use time.cloudflare.com.

With the correct DST week set and this you should get the time.

Okay, changes have been made again to match the correct settings:

Time to do the testing again. Will post update in a few hours (cause that's when the issue happens). Hopefully these changes work for the time.

In the meantime, I'm going to try and make a outlook/live email address and input it on the NVR's SMTP. Though does anyone know the recommend settings for outlook/live for SMTP? Dahua seems to have guides for yahoo (tested already) and gmail (tested already) but not live/outlook.

FYI Gmail SMTP can be hit and miss with certain things. If google thinks something is wrong, it may stop letting some messages thru (but allow the test process to succeed) - if this is happening you'll get an alert e-mail at the address you are trying to send from though

Don't forget to enable POP access in outlook.com's settings [actually did you do this for gmail too? I'm only assuming you did as I would think the dahua guide would mention it]

If you are trying to get your NVR to email you on motion detection be careful with this as it can absolutely flood your inbox when some mozzies or bugs appear at night when they get attracted to the IR on the cameras

If your cameras are not on the NVRs ports, and are instead on your general lan, then you need to also do those settings on the camera itself for the on screen overlay as it will be looking to set its internal clock itself.

If the cameras are behind the NVR on its internal camera network then the NVR will handle all that for you, normally. If you have set it up on the LAN and then moved it a factory reset of the cameras and then plug into the NVRs ports is probably in order.
