These ones are certified as I got this from Kogan/DSE

"I can confirm that our Kogan SmarterHome™ Smart Plug With Energy Meter is fully compliant and is approved to be sold in only Australia and New Zealand."

Here is pare of the document they sent me

Just quick, can these fit side by side on a double plug?

I have a couple of the D-Link Mini WiFi. They work ok with its own app but I have it integrated with my Alexa environment so it can be used in routines, etc.

Very easy to re-flash and using with Tasmota etc.

Can you share the flashing details? Is this "easy" as in "need a soldering iron and some expertise and time" - or something much simpler?!

Just out of interest, can someone specify why you'd reflash these smart plugs (for MQTT support)? What's the attraction?

I've have tried Belkin Wemo, TP-Link, Sonoffs, Arlec and most recently bought one of these..

Flashed it with Tasmota using tuya-convert on a raspberry pi. Took a couple of goes as I was using an older version of tuya-convert.

So far so good, and being re-wireable, doesn't sit too proud of the wall socket. Probably will get another and retire the TP-Links - one of which won't show power usage anymore.

Oh and I flashed it so it's all within my network and not talking home to somewhere outside my control.

The reason why I do it is because it means that I can integrate it directly with openhab. This means that I am not reliant on a server in China (or anywhere else) to control it. Everything is local to my network, and, there is no outside communication from the smart plugs. There are more features in the replacement firmware as well.

Usual reasons for flashing are because of cloud paranoia or else finding that a poor connection makes response times slow, You can also gain additional control over things with your own software on it like greater logging speeds on the power monitoring ones. I have found little reason to flash anything here because I just want on/off control from alexa or an app, and the ones that they have are good enough for most things. Other than the incredibly useless interface in alexas app once past a couple of hundred controllable devices in it.

Why not just get the dual output one from bunnings if you need 2 in one place?

I can confirm that the Koga model KASPEMHA ones do not fit side by side. I believe that they have newer, slimline ones that might.

Meanwhile, for what it's worth, I was looking for some reasonable priced 1-2 gang light switches that have SDoC compliance in NZ and Kogan came back with theirs which is great. Covers the following three models:

Kogan SmarterHomeTM Smart Touch Light 1 Switch Gang-- KAWFSWT1GA,
Kogan SmarterHomeTM Smart Touch Light 2 Switch Gang-- KAWFSWT2GA,
Kogan SmarterHomeTM Smart Touch Light 3 Switch Gang-- KAWFSWT3GA

Which are even cheaper than the DEKA ones I found at bunnings!

I have full local control and they never ever phone home.

Highly recommend the Deta grid connect series. Works well with google home responds much faster than Phillips hue does. I believe Deta is actually arlec.

The grid connect app is also quite good.

Just bought and flashed a 2nd brilliant smart plug to tasmota. Had to re-aquaint myself with teh process, but added it to my openhab machine as a container i can start whenever I need to. First time I did it I had a spare raspberry pi with the tuya-convert software.

Took me 30 mins whoa to go( to be fair most of that 30 mins was writing instructions and getting the docker container running since I forgot how I did it last time), so now it's in openhab and homekit for use. No specific manufacturer app here, or phoning home.
