richms: Not all the deta switches are wifi. One linked to was a touch dimmer with no wifi. Not sure why you would bother IMO and I have seen other touch switches on clearance at Bunnings in wairau.

Good point re non WiFi on that second link, but the first is, even though link to it above doesn’t work. Here’s the WiFi dimmer switch - can someone please confirm that dimmable led bulbs would be required with this?

I’ve done a bit more digging about this, and still am not sure either way whether standard LED bulbs that aren’t marked as compatible with a dimmer will work in a dimmer switch like this WiFi switch linked above. Many references I’ve read are talking about previously installed dimmers that were designed to work with the higher wattage of incandescent bulbs, not modern dimmers.

So, can anyone confirm whether I can or cannot use my existing standard LED bulbs with the above WiFI-enabled dimmer switch? (I’d not bother buying new bulbs for this purpose, but happy to spend a bit more for the dimmer switch if it’ll work with existing bulbs.)

LED bulbs not marked as dimmable are unlikely to dim, it can be hit and miss with the ones that are!

How did you get on with these switches? I'm keen to use a couple also and would prefer to use dimmable ones but I can't seem to find any in NZ. Only dimmable ones I can see are on the Ozzie Bunnings site that you posted a link to.

Heya, as mentioned in an earlier post I too couldn’t find them on the NZ website but had already spotted them in-store; I’ve purchased a couple of the dimmable ones and one non-dimmable, but don’t have the confidence to install them myself as they need an earth terminal block. So I’m waiting for a friendly sparky to help me put them in and therefore can’t comment yet on how well they work. (I’ve bought dimmable bulbs in anticipation!)

But, in terms of actual availability, I’d suggest popping into your local store to see if they have them in stock…

Palmerston North; in the locked cabinets along with all the other IOT devices (though, weirdly, in a different part from the same-brand standard switches).
