<TL;DR> - Eufy cameras use either wifi or need a homebase. Some take SD takes, other use the HomeBase storage.  Some can work with HomeKit.  They are good cameras for the price. I haven't tried their outdoor cameras (I have a full PoE system and Eury do not support PoE)  </TL;DR>

So, just to clarify - there are two different types of Eufy cameras:

* Those that require a HomeBase (which comes in 2 different versions), for example all the external cameras and the Eufy Doorbell camera
* Those that work over Wifi (Security light camera and indoor cameras)

Generally (and don't quote me 100% on this as Eufy are great at changing their minds):

* Wifi cameras have their own local storage such as SD Cards.  The 2 indoor cameras (2K Indoor and 2K Indoor pan-and-scan) are also both HomeKit compatible (with a bit of work, but they do work and also support HKSV, which allows for face recognition and notifications via HomePods, etc.)

* Security Light cameras take SD cards

* All external cameras require a HomeBase.  HomeBase 1 has SD Card, HomeBase 2 has 16GB build in storage (plus there are other differences)

* Doorbell camera requires a HomeBase (or do what I did and buy it in a pack with the HomeBase 2).  This then acts as the 'ringer' unit for the doorbell

* Indoor cameras require power (USB adapter included)

* Outdoor cameras have batteries (obviously the security light camera requires 240v)

Now, as an Apple user, Eufy are REALLY annoying - they have promised HomeKit video on many of their devices, including HomeBases, but often this never happens.  Read their forums for more info.   But HomeBridge can fix this to a certain extent.

@timbosan apparently Homekit works with Indoor Cam Pan&Tilt 2K, Indoor Cam 2K, eufyCam 2/2Pro, and eufyCam 2C/2C Pro connected to eufy HomeBase 2.

We installed Amcrest Security POE Cameras that we purchased from Amazon about two years ago. Plenty of camera choices to suit your budget.

Our cameras work with Alexa (that is, you can access the images using your Echo Show devices)  and have POE (power over ethernet) which means no issues with poor wifi connection.

Also purchased a year long data storage package too

We just purchased the 2 K Eufy 2 Camera system today. After posting on my local FB crime group which im admin for. I had a few recommendations for Eufy.

Heathcotes had them on special for $498. When the weather improves we will install. We have a small unit so the camera should be fine. One covering Front area 2nd over Garage area

A few months ago I decided to add a couple of 2K cameras to the HD Eufy 2C system that I installed back in Dec 2020. When looking at prices for the add-on cameras (circa $300 each) I found it was significantly cheaper just to buy a whole new 2C Pro system including the homebase from Amazon Australia - which cost me $378 inc delivery.

I've since added one of the new cameras to my home system, and the other camera and second homebase are now setup at the bach. The IOS app is perfectly setup to operate both systems independently and I can monitor all cameras across both locations on the one screen.

So I saved myself a couple of hundred bucks and got a second site secured which was a delight.

I tried a eufy setup with base station and had trouble with the cameras going offline and needing to be set up again repeatedly.

I think the cause was the interference from the amount of wifi signals at the front of our property and that the eufy wifi cannot be configured so it needs the setup process to bring the camera back.

Could have been a fault with he unit but once I started googling it seemed a repeatable weakness so I returned it.

Otherwise I was pretty happy with the features, app playback etc.

Well I had a couple of spare hours today so I installed the 2 camera Eufy 2 K system.
Im not good hands on Installation type stuff but I assure you this was easy as to install.
Following the App directions you cant go wrong. Only difficulty I had was selecting the correct Drill bit as the one mentioned on a piece of paper was way out. So I looked at my kit and found something that looked like it and tested in a spare piece of wood.
Once up and running I fine tuned the Zones that will trigger the movement sensors.
The app is intuitive. Plenty of playing with it. The Sound ferawture, the flashlight and alarms.
So im a Happy camper after installing this so far

Well done.  My son recently bought this kit and had the same issue with the drill bit (he actually went as far as drilling the hole).  I suspect the suggested size is if your mounting the cameras using the supplied rawlplugs.

I've got this kit as well and am very happy with it.  Installed last January and the batteries still show 3 bars out of 5 for their charge (we're down the end of a right-of-way in a quiet cul-de-sac so not much traffic).  I've augmented it with a permanently powered indoor camera, the ones that record to an SD card and don't use the homebase but do use the same app.  It overlooks the driveway out of the window, roughly the same as  one of the outdoor cams. This records 24 x 7 so if there was to be something of interest  that triggered the battery powered one I can view footage from the indoor one timestamped before the outdoor cam started recording.  I bought this indoor cam from Amazon US, landed it here for less than $80.

I just couldnt believe this rookie mistake. I actually drilled 2 holes. In the end I got the screws and made a visual match then tried them on a waste piece of wood. Yes I see what you mean by the rawl plugs which of course now makes sense.

Overall we are very happy with it.

I have Arlo cameras but decided to get the local station hub as opposed to Cloud storage which works out far cheaper.

New eufyCam 3 with 4K resolution, built-in solar panel and a new HomeBase 3 released. Looks a decent increase to the picture quality over the 2K's. Might see the 2K's discounted?

I certainly wouldn't go near any of the Eufy wireless security camera products which all appear to have a major security flaw.  If someone can access a camera and press the SYCH button it will prevent your access to ALL video taken by that camera and stored on the Homebase.  If they steal the camera after doing this, you can never reinstate or gain access to the footage.  Pity - in many other respects they are nice products - just not a SECURITY system by any definition.

I store any wanted footage directly to my iPhone. I don't have a homebase. Just the one camera/spotlight. Works well for my purposes and to be honest, I get alerts and footage enough for me and I don't have any real concerns as I don't have this pointing anywhere but my driveway.
