I'm using ordinary lights/bulbs for my garage but through smart plug, works fine me.

Yes, this would work but would require changing the current wiring to a plug insead of switch. In any case, the old floodlight (which we never use because it's in the garage) needs to be replaced so an electrician is coming tomorrow to swap with a new one that I got with the Arlec lights. Will post results.

Done. Replaced bulbs with these, suggested by @michaelmurfy. Connected to Alexa, added to a new room called Garage and added to some routines - if movement is detected on the deck between certain time then turn on lights, turn lights off after movement is no longer detected after 20 minutes. Working with voice commands as well. Pretty happy.

Thanks all!

If you got the RGB one you could make them flash red when alexa was saying red alert and really make people think you were mad.
