Jase2985:

look for one that supports USB-PD over the USB-C 3.2 port.

maybe the question should be what laptop should i get that supports being powered from a powerbank?

I had a reply from Gigabyte and they said the laptop model is not capable of being charged via a powerbank through the thunderbolt.

Unfortunate, but I’m not terribly surprised.
At work I use a Dell which would normally be charged through a 130W USB C charger. The dell docks were on a 6 month lead time (lol) so I got a Targus one instead which only supports 100W through the USB C. Due to the lack of power, the laptop halts in BIOS on boot to have a massive complain. OK, you can turn that off. But then the windows power manager just will not shut up about it, and I can’t seem to turn that off.
And that’s only a 30W drop. You’d be looking at more like 130W.

I'm not particularly fussed, I'll probably still get the laptop.

When I saw it had a thunderbolt port I thought it might be capable of being powered by a power bank - obviously not.

At least I've learned a bit about power banks in my adventure!
