My vote goes to Sensibo. I had a Broadlink RM4 and it worked okish.

Got a good deal on a Sensibo a few years back and it's been fantastic.

One of the best things about it is that it picks up the signal from the Heat Pump remote, so will sync it's state if you use the OEM remote (eg. someone grabs the remote and turns on the heatpump, the Sensibo app will detect this has happened and will show the heatpump in it's correct state, so you can turn it off using the App or the remote and vice-versa).

Works really well with Amazon Echo too.

Any thoughts on Ambi Climate 2 (2nd Edition) Smart Home Air Conditioning Control?

Bit of an older product but I am able to get one for $40 + shipping (code: AMBI).

AMBI CLIMATE 2 SMART HOME AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL AMBIV2-1

Still monitoring Sensibo prices at this stage.

what’s the range on it can it be hidden behind a tv or does it need to be in the open? , looks really good I just don’t like the power cord being visible:)

It just needs to be within remote range of your heatpump - it operates over IR, just like your OEM remote.

For it to sync with your OEM remote, it would be ideal if it is inline with where you use the remote and the heatpump (it 'intercepts' the OEM remote signal, so if it doesn't see the remote, it won't sync).
