From memory, there is also an option in the installer config to disable defaulting - you can't factory reset the panel and start from scratch. It's not enabled by default, so it's an especially nasty installer who changes that setting.

ADT used to do that, particularly for systems they installed "for free" when they tied the consumer into a 36 month monitoring contract.

Many alarm company's "know" other alarm company's standard codes (techs move from company to company) so its not entirely hopeless if the original installer code is locked to a panel, but as they change standard codes periodically, these lists can go out of date pretty quick.

There is an agreement between company's to default an installer code with no cost if it has been panel locked.

If its a Bosch Radionics panel, there are only a handful of alarm company's with the equipment to unlock the panel

To anyone that may know, this is what was installed. The actual alarm system is hardwired I'm sure, but the ICP IP Module is additional add on to the alarm panel which i had to connect to via a QR Code.

I found an online resource or setting this up, so might try those steps if turning off/on doesnt work

If the owner doesn't get the intergral codes which could render the hardware useless in the future without them,
then that could end up being very costly if the business closes down. Why don't they put it in a sealed envelope and tape it inside the box. That way it can be used in the fire if needed and they're is no risk for the owner. 200 is a heck if a lot just to reconnect its settings. I have this alarm but don't have the codes, and you can't setup up fully without them. We had to get them back to get them.to connect it online and connect up the app.
