Handle9: Where did I “wipe out” Android as a choice?

”Android has been a miserable failure on tablets and Google really gave up trying a while ago.”

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Are either of those statements untrue?

That’s not the point. You asked ‘where’ and were quoted.

Whether your statements are true or not is an entirely different matter.

You also omitted that I said OP should consider the iPad. I didnt say it was the only choice and not to consider anything else.

Handle9: You can use a Bluetooth keyboard with almost any tablet on the market. If you can, type for an extended period of time with the keyboard you try. Many of the keyboard cases have minimal travel and are pretty miserable to type on.

So true. Consider packing a standard keyboard so much more productive. Alternatively the smaller form factor with no numpad etc.

For any one hour use you will benefit from a raised tablet stand taking it to a reasonable height. I've owned only a couple from $12-$50 they were ok, I don't have a specific recommendation sorry. I'm not a fan of laptops on tables in general it doesn't work for me without a stand. Beneficial for cooling if you're using a lot for data.

A USB OTG adaptor is sometimes a handy thing if you have standard USB keyboards lying around and no desire to spend. Mouse is not needed with touch.

I have a Samsung S8+ great tablet, more important was the keyboard/trackpad and protective case.

Made the tablet much more usable

noroad:

Whatever you get I recommend these -

You can use these to hold your tablet infron of the aircraft entertainment screen loaded up with your own content.

Wouldn't it get stuck on the web?

Morning all, thanks for all your replies. I haven't read it yet as I have been out tramping lately. Perfect weather and I could not resist.
If I have any further questions or comments I'll post it during the next couple of days.

I  certainly will. IOS will not be my choice, some has to do with the OS and hardware(left Macbook Pro some years ago). The Apple experience wasn't great for the $.

A little update regarding the Pixel Tablet.

After approx a month of travelling I had more than enough of it. It was a struggle to connect to the web via my Pixel 6.

It was clunky with the detached keyboard and the BT connection was at times hard to connect. Was very happy when I sold it via eBay. Learnt a lesson🙃
